2020 Subaru Forester / Subaru Outback Features Comparison

On the exterior, the all-new 2020 Subaru Outback boasts an upgraded look featuring durable, rugged body cladding and roof rails with foldable crossbars and integrated tie-down points for securing boats, bikes and cargo boxes to the roof. And while the 2020 Subaru Forester has a perfectly modern infotainment system with a 6.5" standard touchscreen display, the all-new 2020 Subaru Outback gets the latest version of Subaru STARLINK™ multimedia including a pair of 7-inch touch displays. On premium Subaru Outback trim levels, you'll get a massive, portrait-oriented 11.6" touchscreen that dominates the dashboard. 2020 Subaru Forester / Subaru Outback Performance Comparison:

The 2020 Subaru Forester offers just a single engine option whereas the 2020 Subaru Outback has a pair of engine options for you to choose from. At the entry level, the 2020 Subaru Outback and Forester both get the same engine. It's a four-cylinder BOXER® engine that makes 182 horsepower.

But, if you want more powerful highway cruising and more guts for off-roading and overlanding, the all-new 2020 Subaru Outback XT models are equipped with the turbocharged BOXER® engine found in the Subaru Ascent! 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque go even further on the Outback XT that's smaller and lighter than the Ascent.

Naturally, being Subaru vehicles, both models also come standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. They also offer Hill Descent Control and X-MODE® for improved control and performance on steep inclines and loose surfaces. These features are found on premium 2020 Subaru Forester trim levels, but not the entry-level trim. Instead, every single 2020 Subaru Outback gets these features as standard.

Need to do a little towing? The 2020 Subaru Outback offers a standard 2,700 lbs towing capacity and the 2020 Subaru Outback XT bumps that figure up to 3,500 lbs. The 2020 Subaru Forester is still able to tow light trailers with a towing capacity of 1,500 lbs.
