That's where the Subaru Legacy and Impreza come in with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel drive for a level of traction to rival any of the luxury brands. Discover more about these two affordable AWD cars below and schedule a test drive with us at Nate Wade Subaru to learn even more about the differences between these cars.

2021 Subaru Impreza vs Legacy Comparison: Size

From the outside, the size difference between these cars may not be very noticeable. The 2021 Subaru Impreza sedan is considered a small car while the new Subaru Legacy is classified as a midsize sedan. The smaller Impreza has a slightly shorter wheelbase and just over seven inches shorter overall than the Subaru Legacy. However, when you step inside, these inches add up to cubic feet. The Impreza provides roughly 100 cubic feet of passenger volume, which is substantial for this segment and price point. Meanwhile, the new Subaru Legacy invites passengers to enjoy the journey in 105 cubic feet of space.

One other key difference between these two Subaru AWD cars is that the Impreza is available as a 5-door hatchback. That means substantially more cargo room than the Legacy, which is only available as a sedan. Though, if you don't need the extra space, you may find that the additional features in the Legacy.

While both cars come standard with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and flat BOXER® engines, you'll notice a difference in how each one performs from behind the wheel. The standard 2.0-liter engine in the Impreza produces a healthy 152 horsepower through a 5-speed manual transmission at the start of the lineup. The new Subaru Legacy, on the other hand, starts out with a 2.5-liter engine that makes 182 horsepower. If you'd like even more gumption from your throttle, test drive a new 2021 Subaru Legacy equipped with the available turbocharged engine that turns out 260 horsepower with 277 lb/ft of torque. Subaru Makes Safety The Priority

If you're not yet familiar with the Subaru brand, you might not know that safety is the absolute priority for everything the company does. Did you know that Subaru began crash testing its vehicles a decade before official vehicle assessment programs were developed? It was in the mid-1960s that Subaru started crashing their own cars to see how they could improve the safety. That dedication and innovation continues to show in today's Subaru models. In fact, Subaru models are now equipped to help you avoid the crash completely.

Every 2021 Subaru Legacy is equipped with EyeSight® that includes automatic pre-collision braking and adaptive cruise control. When equipped with the available automatic transmission, the new Subaru Impreza is also equipped with EyeSight®. At the end of the day, it all adds up to a level of safety, comfort, and confidence that you'll only find in a new Subaru.
